If you didn't get the Kickstarter email or follow us on Tumblr, here are the breakout board instructions: http://supermechanical.tumblr.com/post/36761040622/how-to-use-your-twine-breakout-board
I think you can set preferences on your messageboard a…
That's pretty awesome - will mull over it. And disconnect would also be useful for the admins already monitoring their server room temperature. It's more possible than you think, because Twine's brain is partially in the cloud.
It should update every minute or so. Sounds like your Twine got knocked off the network. If this persists, please report the issue at help.supermechanical.com.
Perko, Perko... ah, I remember you. We were going to try to get together way back when we were young and foolish. Well, if you're ever in Austin.
We'll keep working toward what you need. What are the sensors you'd need in a multi-sensor solution?
Correct, water just needs to bridge the two gold contacts. It's sensitive enough that a sweaty palm will trigger it. It's recommended that you mount it vertically so that the whole thing doesn't get submerged. It shouldn't damage it, but may lead to…
Agreed. I call what you see on the rules editor page a ruleset - a group of rules under a title/description. We'll make it so that you can have multiple rulesets and make them more portable.
Not exactly. Rules are triggered on the change event, so after it's reset, it will next trigger when the magnetic switch goes from unengaged to engaged.
In between bug chasing, we're writing real documentation for each sensor. I'll be sure to include that setup and fast mode drive the temperature up. But in normal operation Twine uses a minuscule amount of power, and won't create an amount of heat o…
No, but you can make a rule that uses orientation to arm your switch, like:
WHEN magswitch is open AND orientation is top side up THEN email me.
James, very good point to make. The plug gets tight at the end, but needs to be pushed all the way.
If you're not using metal tape it shouldn't affect things too much. If you're sticking Twine in a metal mailbox, that would contribute to the problem. The antenna is along the back edge (where the ports are), so keeping that side away from obstructi…
Dave, analog input is coming in a firmware update. I apologize that we don't yet have instructions on how to use the breakout board - I'll bug David to do it this week.
The production Twine is pretty water resistant - it can take a couple of splashes. A ziploc bag works well to protect it when I stick it in the fridge, etc.
We know it's not ideal not to have all the features in from the beginning, but we'd rather …
We've got 10' cables coming in a few weeks. Our cables are a little fancy - we had them custom-made with shielding connected to ground for extra signal reliability. If you can find a TRRS male-to-male cable, it should work, but we can't guarantee it…
Christopher, I don't begrudge you your annoyance. Hiding your network won't stop someone capable of breaking WPA2 security, but it's not our intent to dictate what you should do, only suggest a remedy. This is a bug in our wireless chip's low-level …
We think the problem is in one of two spots. Made another small update - empty your browser cache and try again. If it still has the same behavior, then it's a bit deeper and David will have to dig into it.
The number of rules shouldn't make very much of a difference. A lot of battery power is used whenever Twine has to talk - going into setup or fast mode, loading rules, connecting or reconnecting to a network, triggering rules.
Great thought. Anyone just put a nail or string through Twine's hole? You could also punch a hole through the back of the sleeve, or thread a strap between the sleeve and inner case.
The sensors each have two .148" holes designed for a standard scr…
This is a good topic. We were trying to think of good mounting options to mold into the case, but couldn't come up with anything feasible in the time we had. (Though you can put a nail through the hole.)
Maybe it'd help if we release a 3D model of …
