Instead of strapping the Twine to your body (which does not sound comfortable) how about just placing it on the bed and having it sense movement via the vibration sensor?
The only I have been able to have Twine tell me it is on external power was to remove the batteries and it will say 'external power'. Or if the batteries drop below the 3.0x volts, you can determine by removing the USB power and see what the voltag…
Mine shows up just above the 'Slow/Fast' slider, and to the left of the battery level indicator. BUT, it isn't showing right now...so I am not sure what triggers it to display.
Below that on the left side, in the lightly shaded box where the temp and orientation are - you should have a name for your Twine device, mouse over that name.
In my experiment the other day - the report page only showed 'external power' when I took the batteries out. Once I put them back in it switched back to voltage reading. It would be nice to have that display both power source AND battery voltage.
It would appear I'm seeing a similar thing, my Twine is reporting a drop in temperature to 69 now, but nothing shows up on Thingspeak since 1:49 PM EST when it was 70. Either the rule is not working, or the HTTP request isn't being fired properly..…
This is an interesting conversation. Not sure where the Supermechanical guys are headed with Twine, but clearly this whole segment - sensors and the IoT - is exploding as we speak. I think Twine will have to get much cheaper, or it will have to su…
Or...you can open up your Twine, remove the batteries, and remove the circuit board - the Mac address is printed on a sticker. (I'm not suggesting you do this.)
One option: Install 'Fing' (or some other network scanner) on your iPhone, put your Twine into Setup mode, connect your iPhone to the Twine setup network, then run a scan in Fing. The results will show the IP and Mac address.
I received a Twine on Monday and it had the October firmware, but within about 24 hours it had automatically updated to the November firmware. (The only issue I had after the update - my static IP settings were wiped, and had to be re-configured.)
I wasn't involved a year ago, but I'd say we are part of a young start-up as early adopters. Embrace it. Now that the guys have shipped the device and more people are 'using' it, give the guys a chance to review all the feedback and data they are …
I'd like to see this type of feature as well - is Twine running on batteries or USB power. (Also would like to see the Twine 'alive/dead' status type monitor/notification from Twine servers, Gerry.)
I agree, the 'I'm alive' monitor makes a lot of sense. This could be combined with a weekly/daily/hourly status reporting feature, all user configured. Lot's of opportunity to improve functionality in this area.
