I received my twines few days ago, and I must say it is awsome! Well worth the wait for over a year.

A bit cumbersome, but I finally managed to do one of my planned projects. I have an iPad wall-mounted in our kitched keeping my family updated with useful information. I want to display temperatures from around the house here.

*Update 1: There is no API to get the temperatures, so I had to webscrape the twine dashboard to get access to the data. I hope that I'll be able to get things from an API in the future.*

Next up would be to store the values in a database and plot graphs from the latest 24 hours. I'll keep you updated.

It is entirely client side (javascript).

A tiny server component translating the twine server info to JSON.

Actually, that URL is what I ended up using. However I use webscraping to get an updated session cookie. I've never tested without the cookies though, may be that works as well?

I'm not sure about the cached thing. What do you mean by force an update? It probably will not pull data from the twine itself. May be they have an additional cache layer to their storage.

Here is an update. I pushed the data regularly into a mongodb NoSQL store, and provided a REST API to pull data from there. Now I got a chart of the temperatures for the last 24 hours.

This is great, exactly what a colleague has asked for. I'm not a coder, is there a chance you could point me to some how-to's to set something like this up? I have a laptop which is running XAMPP so could use that to present the webpage.
