Moisture Sensor Stops Being Recognized

Out-of-town a week ago, the Twine started alerting me at 5:00 in the morning that the washing machine was overflowing.  Anxious calls to me wife confirmed this and I enthusiastically proclaimed "my investment paid off!'  Alas, one week later, a leak again, but no alarm ...  What happened?  Batteries are good, Twine's on wifi and reporting temp, motion, but no moisture ...  Unplugging the moisture sensor and plugging it back in, drying it off did not work, but taking the batteries out and restarting it did.  This morning (no leak), but a quick online check showed the moisture sensor missing again.  Again I needed to restart the unit.  Any ideas?!
