Switching between multiple access points (channels) on the same WiFi network

I have three wireless access points (AP) in my home, with the same SSID (broadcast) but different channels (1, 7 and 12) to minimise interference. When I connect Twine to the network via the Static IP procedure I see the three channels listed (with their signal strengths) and have to select one. (The "normal" connect procedure simply lists multiple networks with the same name).

If I move the Twine to a different location where another AP would be a better choice, it does not connect to the stronger signal, even in cases where the original AP is out of range.

Is there a firmware update that includes better handling of multiple APs on the same network?
